Foxtel Arts channel will broadcast Broadway’s ultimate night of nights the 73rd Annual Tony Awards® streamed live from Radio City Music Hall in New York City this Monday June 10 from 10am and encored at 7.30pm that evening and also available On Demand.
Tony and Emmy Award-winning actor and CBS “The Late Late Show” host James Corden will host the 2019 awards ceremony for the second time.
Some of the world’s biggest stars from stage and screen will join the stage to perform with appearances from Sara Bareilles, Jake Gyllenhaal, Lucy Liu, Laura Benanti, Abigail Breslin, Kristin Chenoweth, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Josh Groban, Danai Gurira, Christopher Jackson, Shirley Jones, Jane Krakowski, Aasif Mandvi, Sienna Mller, Catherine O’Hara, Tony Nominee Kelli O’Hara, Anthony Ramos, Brian Stokes Mitchell, Marisa Tomei, Samira Wiley, BeBe Winans and Isabelle Stenson Awards recipient Judith Light.
In addition, presenters include Samuel L. Jackson, Darren Criss, Tina Fey, Sutton Foster, Regina King, Laura Linney, Audra McDonald, Ben Platt, Billy Porter, Andrew Rannells, LaTanya Richardson Jackson and Michael Shannon.
The Tony Awards telecast will feature performances by the casts of Ain’t Too Proud- The Life and Times of the Temptations; Beetlejuice; The Cher Show; Choir Boy; Hadestown; Kiss Me, Kate; Oklahoma!; The Prom and Tootsie. The evening will also feature a special performance by Tony Award winning actress Cynthia Erivo.
Marking 73 years of excellence on Broadway, The Tony Awards honour theatre professionals for distinguished achievement on Broadway and has been broadcast on CBS since 1978 and are presented by The Broadway League and the American Theatre Wing.
Australian performer and composer Eddie Perfect who wrote the music and lyrics for the Broadway musical Beettlejuice is up for a Tony award for Best Original Score, with the musical scoring eight nominations in total.
Nominations in 26 competitive categories for the American Theatre Wing’s 73rd Annual Antoinette Perry “Tony” Awards® include Hadestown, the folk music retelling of the Orpheus and Eurydice myth with a jazz/blues score, leads with 14 nods closely followed by Aint’ Too Proud- The Life and Times of the Temptations with 12 nominations and Tootsie with 11 nominations.
