Charles Chaplin – Screen Legend
Sunday afternoons in October, hosted by Bill Collins

This October, FOX Classics presents a month long celebration Charles Chaplin – Screen Legend to commemorate the centenary of his first appearance on film as the iconic Little Tramp character.

Over four Sunday afternoons, starting October 5, FOX Classics’ Mr Movies Bill Collins will introduce a selection of Chaplin’s films from the silent era through to the talkies.

Chaplin (1889 – 1977) wrote, starred, directed, produced, edited and even composed the music for most of his films.

“I’m delighted to be introducing these timeless works to FOX Classics audiences,” Mr Collins said. “People know of Charles Chaplin and his Little Tramp character but there are many people nowadays who might not have ever seen one of his films in full.

“Charles Chaplin was a genius, a truly original creative talent as an artist and storyteller. He had a great deal of imagination and the willpower to get things done right, his way.

“Chaplin’s appeal on film crossed all ages, classes and borders. He inspired so many other actors and film makers, Orson Welles said City Lights was one of his favourite films, and still today Chaplin is regarded so highly for his versatility and artistry.

“His films make you laugh a lot but they make you cry too. They are an experience in sight and sound with moments you will never forget.”
