Countdown to the Emmys at 9.30am

The 72nd Annual Primetime Emmy Awards will be broadcast LIVE and exclusive on Foxtel’s FOX ARENA direct from Los Angeles on Monday, September 21 at 10.00am AEST, with an encore screening at 7.30pm AEST the same day and available On Demand. Prior to the Awards ceremony will be the Countdown to the Emmys at 9.30am AEST.

The 72nd Annual Primetime Emmy Awards will feature special appearances by some of Hollywood’s biggest stars including Anthony Anderson, America Ferrera, Issa Rae, Gabrielle Union, J.J. Watt, Lena Waithe and Oprah Winfrey. Additionally, singer-songwriter and GRAMMY®-winning artist H.E.R. will make her Emmy® debut for a special “In Memoriam” performance.

Additional talent who will be making special appearances during the “72nd Emmy® Awards.” Talent includes Jason Bateman, Sterling K. Brown, Laverne Cox, “Sesame Street”’s Count Von Count, Morgan Freeman, Ilana Glazer, Abbi Jacobson, Lin-Manuel Miranda, D-Nice, Randall Park, RuPaul, Patrick Stewart and Jason Sudeikis with more surprises and guests to appear during television’s biggest night.

Prior to the Awards ceremony, Countdown to the Emmys at 9.30am will be hosted by entertainment reporters and morning anchors Sam Rubin, Jessica Holmes, Doug Kolk and Megan Henderson – all of whom will be Red Carpet ready, conducting interviews with the nominees, and discussing their favorite performances from the year’s best television dramas, limited series and comedies with a panel of experts.

Foxtel’s Emmy nominations this year include acting nods for stunning performances by Australians Cate Blanchett (Mrs America), Hugh Jackman (Bad Education) and Sarah Snook (Succession).

HBO’s Watchmen, the acclaimed graphic novel adaptation, available to watch on Foxtel, took the top spot with 26 nominations, including Outstanding Limited Series and 6 nominations for cast contributions.

The smash-hit series Succession received 18 nominations, including Outstanding Drama Series. Brian Cox and Jeremy Strong are nominated for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series.

Long-running comedy series Saturday Night Live scored 15 nominations, hugely popular sci-fi drama series Westworld received 11 nominations, critically acclaimed drama series Mrs America received 10 nominations, including Outstanding Limited Series, and the stunning ensemble cast featuring Cate Blanchett, What We Do in The Shadows also received 10 nominations, including Outstanding Comedy Series. Also nominated for Outstanding Comedy Series is Curb Your Enthusiasm and Insecure.

Rising star Zendaya has earned her first Emmy Nomination for Outstanding Actress in a Drama series for the breakout hit series Euphoria, which has garnered 6 nominations.

Hugh Jackman is nominated for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Limited Series/Movie for his extraordinary performance in Bad Education, which is also nominated for Outstanding Television Movie. And Mark Ruffalo has received a nomination for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Limited Series/Movie for his career-defining role in I Know This Much Is True.

Laura Dern and Meryl Streep are nominated for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series for the second season of fan favourite Big Little Lies.

Billy Porter is again nominated for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series for the history-making series Pose and Jason Bateman is nominated for Outstanding Guest Actor in a Drama Series for The Outsider.

Reality competition program Top Chef on FOX ARENA is nominated for Reality Competition Program and its’ hosts Padma Lakshmi and Tom Colicchio are also nominated. Amy Poehler and Nick Offerman are also nominated for Reality Host for Making It on LifeStyle channel.
