In an Australian television first, Foxtel Movies presents an epic pop-up adventure to rival them all, as the entire collection of movies in the extraordinary The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings trilogies are showcased from beginning to end, in HD, on a dedicated pop-up channel.

All six movies in director Peter Jackson’s smash-hit fantasy adventure trilogies will be available to Foxtel Movies and Foxtel Platinum subscribers, from 6.00am on Friday, July 7 through to Monday, July 10.

The four-day movie marathon will launch with the first film in The Hobbit trilogy, The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journeyand will run through to the final film in The Lord of the Rings trilogy, The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King.

The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings trilogies are based on the novels by J.R.R Tolkien. Set in the fictional world of Middle-earth, the Academy Award-winning films received worldwide praise and have collectively become some of the highest-grossing movies of all time.

Both movie trilogies feature a stunning lineup of the film industry’s most acclaimed actors including Sean Bean, Cate Blanchett, Orlando Bloom, Martin Freeman, Christopher Lee, Sir Ian McKellen, Viggo Mortensen, Miranda Otto, Hugo Weaving, David Wenham and Elijah Wood.

The Hobbit & The Lord of the Rings pop-up channel follows on from Foxtel Movies’ hugely successful series of pop-up channels, including the Star WarsHarry Potter, Fast and Furious and Arnie pop-ups.

The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey (2012)

The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug (2013)

Join Bilbo Baggins as he journeys with the Wizard Gandalf and thirteen Dwarves, led by Thorin Oakenshield, on an epic quest to reclaim the lost Dwarf Kingdom of Erebor.

The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies (2014)

A deadly force is unleashed into the world as legions of Orcs begin to attack Lonely Mountain. A battle for the future of Middle-earth rages as Bilbo and his friends fight for their lives.

The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring (2001)

A hobbit inherits a magic ring with the power to enslave Middle-earth and must reach Mordor destroy it

The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers (2002)

Frodo the hobbit continues his perilous journey to destroy the magic ring. A fellowship bands together to support him.

The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King (2003)

The final battle for Middle-earth is near as Frodo and Sam approach Mount Doom to destroy the magic ring.

The Hobbit & The Lord of the Rings pop-up channel will be available in HD* to Foxtel Movies and Foxtel Platinum subscribers on channel 400. Channel 400 is now home to a series of hugely popular and exclusive pop-up movie events and is also available to stream on Foxtel Now.

 

The Hobbit & The Lord of the Rings pop-up movies will also be available to watch from Foxtel’s on demand library, or streamed on demand on Foxtel’s newly announced streaming service, Foxtel Now.
