The 73rd ANNUAL GOLDEN GLOBE AWARDS

Live and exclusive on FOX8 this Monday January 11th from 11.00am

Subscription television will continue its trailblazing run of nominations at the 73rd ANNUAL GOLDEN GLOBE AWARDS which honour the best and brightest talent in film and television, when they air live and exclusive on Fox8 on Monday January 11 – red carpet from 11.00am, with the awards ceremony from 12.00pm. Foxtel’s blockbuster series including Game of Thrones, The Affair, Orange is the new Black, Ray Donovan, Veep, Mr. Robot , Wolf Hall , Jane the Virgin, Silicon Valley and Outlander which are screened over five of Foxtel’s most popular channels – showcase, FOX8, SoHo, BBC FIRST and The Comedy Channel are nine of a total thirteen nominated series.

Three of the five Best Television Series – Drama nominations are Game of Thrones (showcase), Outlander (SoHo) and Mr. Robot (Presto/Foxtel) – they join Wolf Hall (BBC FIRST) which is nominated in the equally distinguished category for Best Series or Motion Picture made for Television.

In the Best Television Series – Comedy or Musical, three of the six nominated series also air first on Foxtel – Orange is the new Black (showcase), Silicon Valley (Comedy) and Veep (showcase) .

Best Actor in a Television Series – Drama nominees include Jon Hamm for Mad Men (Showcase), Liv Schreiber in Ray Donovan (Showcase) and Rami Malek for his ground breaking role in Mr.Robot (Presto/Foxtel).
While Caitriona Balfe from Outlander on SoHo and Eva Green who appears in Penny Dreadful on Foxtel’s showcase channel have both been nominated for Best Actress- in a Television Series – Drama

Comedy legend Julia Louis-Dreyfus from Veep (showcase) will take on Jane the Virgin’s Gina Rodriguez (Fox8) in the category of Best Performance by an Actress in a Television Series, Comedy or Musical and two of America’s most popular and respected television actresses – Maura Tierney from The Affair (showcase) and Uzo Abuda from Orange is the new Black (showcase) will go head to head for Best Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role for Mini-Series or Motion Picture Made for Television.

All eyes will be on actress and musician Queen Latifah who has been nominated for Best Performance by an Actress in a Mini Series or Motion Picture made for Television in her highly acclaimed role of Bessie (showcase) when she goes up against pop icon Lady Gaga from American Horror Story in the same category.

Comedian Ricky Gervais will host the broadcast for the fourth time live from the Beverly Hilton Hotel in LA.

Fox8 will air a prime time screening of the awards at 7.30pm the same evening, followed by a repeat screening on Foxtel’s SoHo channel on Saturday January 16th at 8.30pm. (AEST)
