Hey Siri, play my favourite radio station
The Australian radio industry’s mobile streaming app RadioApp has been updated to support Apple’s new Siri Shortcuts feature, meaning listeners can now ask the virtual assistant to start playing their favourite radio station using voice command.

The innovative update of the app provides support in time for the global release of Apple’s new iOS 12 operating system and three new iPhones – the iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max and the iPhone XR.

Commercial Radio Australia chief executive officer, Joan Warner, said the update would make listening to radio on a mobile phone even easier, with listeners able to create shortcuts for listening to their favourite stations.

“We’re pleased to support the exciting new features offered by Siri Shortcuts to make the mobile listening experience even more streamlined.

“Listeners can now ask Siri to play any of the 280 Australian radio stations on the app straight from the lock screen.

“Listeners who use Apple CarPlay will also be able to ask Siri to play or change radio stations in RadioApp hands-free while driving, providing a relaxing and safe driving experience.”

Siri will learn from your listening habits and suggest shortcuts for users based on stations they regularly listen to using RadioApp.

The commercial radio industry launched RadioApp in late 2016 to allow listeners to live stream commercial, ABC, SBS and DAB+ digital radio stations through one easy-to-use app. Users can create a favourites list and simply swipe to see what shows and songs are playing on other stations. The app was developed by CRA in association with All in Media (AIM).

Chromecast support was added in July, which means those using the Google plug-in device can also listen to Radioapp via their smart TV.

RadioApp can be downloaded free through the App Store and Google Play or visit www.radioapp.com.au for more info.
