Foxtel today announced that its recently launched BoxSets service has been eagerly embraced by subscribers. The new service has been a hit with On Demand viewing despite being only a few weeks old. Unsurprisingly, popular fantasy drama Game of Thrones has proven to be the most popularly accessed program, with more than 94,000 episodes downloaded and viewed to date.
Foxtel BoxSets, which launched on 3 November in conjunction with Foxtel’s new pricing and packaging, has already amassed more than 407,000 downloads in total, averaging more than 27,000 downloads per day, making it the most downloaded Anytime channel since launch. Top ranking Game of Thrones was followed by comedy-drama Entourage with over 60,000 downloads to date, with classic mob-drama The Sopranos ranking third at more than 43,000.
Foxtel Executive Director of Television, Brian Walsh said, “The numbers are in and the binge viewers have called it, BoxSets is an unqualified hit. We’ve listened to the feedback from customers who love to watch back to back episodes of their favourite shows and are thrilled that our answer has been so popular. With 22 different series already available this month, and more on the way, it’s the ultimate binge watcher’s dream channel.”
The BoxSets service allows subscribers with an internet connected iQ set top box, Foxtel Play or Foxtel Go to immediately watch any of the BoxSets titles available to the service, without the need to wait on a broadcast schedule.
For customers who aren’t internet connected, BoxSets also broadcasts on a linear schedule on channel 116 with complete seasons showing on a rotating basis. Subscribers can watch live or record an episode or complete season to their iQ box and watch them at their leisure
Foxtel Cable & Satellite customers who subscribe to the new Drama pack and Foxtel Play customers with the Premium Movies and Drama pack have access to BoxSets as part of their subscription.
BoxSets includes complete seasons of library drama and complete past seasons of returning drama series on a regularly updating basis, and massively increases the volume of On Demand programming available to Foxtel and Foxtel Play customers.
