The second series of The LifeStyle Channel’s series Gogglebox Australia is a bigger hit than its hugely successful first season according to OzTam ratings results released today.

The first episode of the second season, which premiered on Wednesday September 30 at 8.30pm was watched by a consolidated cumulative audience of 401,000 viewers on Foxtel.

This impressive result for the LifeStyle series is up 13 percent on the average audience for season 1, with the show landing in the most-watched spot for Subscription TV on Wednesdays.

Foxtel Executive Director of Television Brian Walsh said: “Gogglebox is water cooler TV at its best. It is the show people are talking about, and it’s also the show our subscribers are tuning in to on Wednesdays. As more and more viewers discover this unique and fresh format, it continues to delight Foxtel audiences and this is reflected with these impressive ratings results.”

Earlier this year, Gogglebox became the breakout hit local production for The LifeStyle Channel that had everyone talking, capturing the reactions of 10 ordinary Australian households as they watched the nightly news, argued over politics, cheered their favourite sporting teams, and digested current affairs and documentaries.

Each week Gogglebox takes the temperature of the nation with a glimpse into the living rooms of homes all around country; vivacious friends and housemates, Angie and Yvie; best mates and larrikins with a thirst for life, Adam and Symon; bubbly Greek best friends, Anastasia and Faye; the close-knit Dalton family; the fun-loving Delpechitra family; the sports-crazy Jackson family; the quirky, fun and intelligent Kidd family; the couple happily married for 30 years, Lee and Keith; Indigenous art dealers Mick and Di; and newly-engaged cocktail-loving Wayne and Tom.
