Foxtel released the first teasers for the highly anticipated new comedy series OPEN SLATHER during the launch of Australia’s Next Top Model last night.
Casting a satirical eye across the pop culture landscape, OPEN SLATHER is a weekly comedy show commissioned by Foxtel for The Comedy Channel. The 20 episode series will be a no-holds barred send-up of Australian culture, identities, celebrities, and politicians.
Creating a comedy ‘hot pot’, OPEN SLATHER combines the talents of comedy legends who have made us laugh for years, (Glenn Robbins, Magda Szubanski, Shane Jacobson, Marg Downey, Gina Riley, Stephen Curry, Michael Veitch and Jane Turner) with a new wave of comedy performers in a one-hour prime time Sunday night show.
Filmed on location and in front of a studio audience, the series will also feature regular guest star appearances in unexpected roles.
Drawing on the proven track records of the highly experienced producer team of Rick McKenna (Kath & Kim) and Laura Waters (Summer Heights High), this will be a show chock full of razor sharp commentary on contemporary society.
Each episode parodies popular culture, politics, sport, music, media – all the things that capture the imagination of the public and get people talking. From the Real Housewives of Melbourne to Downton Abbey, Gina Rinehart, Hillary Clinton and even Superman, no one is safe!
