FreeviewPlus service recognised on world stage

Freeview has taken out an award in the prestigious International Interactive TV Awards 2015, the only Australian entrant to do so.

The award, announced in Paris last night Australian time, is for Freeview’s hybrid TV service FreeviewPlus, in the category of Best Enhanced TV Service.

Chief Executive Officer Liz Ross said Freeview was delighted with last night’s announcement.

“We are thrilled that Freeview’s commitment to delivering the best interactive TV experience has been recognised at the International Interactive TV Awards,” Ms Ross said.

“Competition was fierce in the categories and it’s an absolute honour to be considered among the best in the world.”

“Australians can be assured that FreeviewPlus is at the very forefront of the global development of hybrid TV technology and services,” she said.

Launched on September 2nd last year, FreeviewPlus is a world-first aggregated TV service using HbbTV technology. It provides all available Catch Up TV services from the Freeview networks and access to more content and services than ever before.

This year, Freeview will roll out more services making 2015 an exciting year for Australian television viewers.

The International ITV Awards 2015, run by interactive TV professional organisation AFDESI in France, is open to all companies around the world offering live interactive television services in 2014, including manufacturers, operators, broadcasters, developers, and publishers.

The competition has grown to incorporate all new formats of television interactivity, through remote control, fixed and mobile phone, second screen and internet.
