Days of Our Lives celebrates
50 years this month

Foxtel’s ‘Search for a Star’ winner
Alexander Bruszt makes his debut

Foxtel’s Arena is thrilled to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the iconic daytime drama Days of Our Lives, which premieres weekdays at 12:45pm, Express from the US.

Alexander Bruszt, winner of Foxtel’s ‘Search for a Star’ competition will also make his debut this month, appearing on Days of Our Lives from November 13.

The established Australian actor will play the role of Fynn, a handsome, rugged Australian doctor who arrives in Salem to do his residency, specifically to gain skills as a surgeon, working under the supervision of Doctor Jonas, played by Shawn Christian.

It was November 8, 50 years ago that the fictitious Midwestern town of Salem came to life. To celebrate the half century mark, the show is continuing its special murder mystery, welcoming back many fan favourite characters and releasing an official photo book entitled “Days of Our Lives: 50 Years.”

In honour of the show’s anniversary, which takes place the week of November 8, there will be a major development in the ongoing elaborate murder mystery saga which began in August. The storyline will then continue through the show’s anniversary year.

Additionally, many much loved characters are returning to mark the anniversary. Returning actors making cameos include: Stephen Nichols, Alison Sweeney, Peter Reckell, Thaao Penghlis, Martha Madison, Tamara Braun and Camila Banus.

“Like sands through the hourglass, so are the days of our lives.” For half a century, those words have introduced and underscored one of daytime drama’s rare mainstays. With 43 Daytime Emmy Awards, including most recently 2013 and 2015 Outstanding Daytime Drama, and airing in over 25 countries internationally, the successful show remains a constant favourite among viewers of all ages.

The show follows the lives of three core families; the Bradys, the Hortons and the DiMeras and the captivating storylines of romance, adventure, mystery, comedy and drama bring audiences back time and time again.

Days of Our Lives is produced by Corday Productions Inc. in association with Sony Pictures Television and is the longest-running scripted program in NBC’s history. Ken Corday is executive producer, with co-executive producers Albert Alarr and Greg Meng. Josh Griffith and Dena Higley are the co-head writers.

Days of Our Lives screens weekdays at 12:45pm, Express from the US, on Foxtel’s Arena.
