Foxtel’s showcase channel is proud to present the HBO smash hit documentary series THE JINX: The Life and Deaths of Robert Durst.

From Andrew Jarecki and Marc Smerling (the Oscar® nominees behind Capturing the Friedmans), THE JINX is a six-part examination of the reclusive millionaire at the heart of three killings spanning four decades.

Robert Durst, the scion of a New York real estate empire, has long been a suspect in the notorious 1982 disappearance of his wife, Kathie. Further suspicion was raised with the unsolved killing of his confidante, Susan Berman, thought to be a key witness in the investigation into Kathie’s disappearance in 2000, as well as the subsequent killing and dismemberment of a neighbor in Galveston, Texas. Durst has consistently maintained his innocence and remains a free man today.

Recent news about Robert Durst’s arrest in New Orleans after the final episode aired in the US had created an unusual set of circumstances.

Director Andrew Jarecki had promised a resolution going into the series, and reviewers were quick to note their approval.

“It’s safe to say that no one will ever stick the landing like director Andrew Jarecki did on HBO’s true crime drama The Jinx: The Life and Deaths of Robert Durst,” opined Vulture

The New York Times said in its review. “It was frightening, gut-wrenching, remarkable television, and the culmination of years of work by the documentary’s director and producer, Andrew Jarecki, and his crew.”

Entertainment Weekly, who also anointed Durst the “Yellow King of 2015” said “If every great yarn requires a compelling protagonist and an even better antagonist, Robert Durst, an anti-hero for the ages, satisfied the demands of both parts very well.”

The acclaimed HBO documentary THE JINX: The Life and Deaths of Robert Durst airs over 6 weeks from Thursday, May 7 at 7.30pm on showcase.
