[V] ISLAND PARTIES return for 2015 with a special treat for music fans – get ready for Royal Blood, the powerhouse rock duo who are taking the world by storm. As loud as they are tight, they will be playing an exclusive intimate live set as the sun goes down on Sydney Harbour, on Channel [V]’s very own floating island on Wednesday, February 4, 2015.
Following Channel [V]’s long standing history of bringing the world’s greatest rock bands to unique, intimate performances (Foo Fighters; Green Day; Black Keys; Kings Of Leon), Channel [V] are proud to have a real rock band taking the stage on The Island. Bringing their much lauded primal sound, coupled with a tonne of swag, Royal Blood are set to throw some massive musical punches from the Island Party stage and it’s the only place to see their solo show outside of the St Jerome’s Laneway Festivals this summer.
Royal Blood are a two piece band formed in Brighton, UK composed of bassist/singer Mike Kerr and drummer Ben Thatcher. During the summer of 2013, Arctic Monkeys drummer Matt Helders was seen wearing a shirt supporting the band (before the release of their first single) during the Glastonbury Festival, catapulting the rock duo onto the international music scene. Their self-titled debut album was released in August 2014 and includes the hit singles “Figure It Out”, “Ten Tonne Skeleton”, “Come On Over”, and “Little Monster”.
Acts that have previously caused havoc on board the Channel [V] Island include international superstars Macklemore and Ryan Lewis, Major Lazer, Ed Sheeran, Dizzee Rascal, Steve Aoki and Rudimental, plus many more.
