This has got to be one of the best franchise combos since the Doritos’ Loco Tacos from Taco Bell. All your favorite Angry Birds have been recast into the telling of a tale from a galaxy far far away.

And not only do they get made over as your favorite Star Wars characters but they also get new power ups. Red Bird Luke starts as a lonely farmer but you eventually run into Black Bird Obe Wan (whose new power up is the use of the Force) who give Luke his first Light Saber.

Rovio and Lucas Arts have gone all out in this collaboration and I am loving every level of it so far. Right now my favorite is the Yellow Bird Han with his laser blaster! And yes he shoots first! (Star Wars geeks will know what I’m referring too)

I really like how they have taken the levels and decorated them with themed pieces that really feel like they fit the environment. From blast ricocheting walls to tarp covered structures the environment feels natural to the game play and nothing feels like it was forced it.

It’s really great that they take the story from planet level, on up into space using the same game mechanics as Angry Bird’s Space and I’m still working my way to the Pig Death Star.

One distinct difference between this and any other Angry Bird games I’ve ever played, THE PIGS STRIKE BACK! Yes that’s right on some levels the Pig Stormtroopers have blasters and they aren’t afraid to use them!

All in all Angry Bird’s Star Wars deliveries on all the promises the title insinuates. You get the best of both universes cobbled together in a great fun filled game. If you’re a Star Wars fan and you’ve never played Angry Bird’s this is a great way to be introduced to the franchise and who knows you may like it so much you’ll want to pick up the other games.

Angry Bird’s Start Wars is out on iOS and Android. And remember “stay on target” young Jedi your adventure awaits!
