With just a week to go until the launch of THE RECRUIT, Foxtel has confirmed the massive line-up of Australian sporting legends who will appear in the second season of FOX8’s hit sports reality series.

Former Australian cricketer Shane Warne, Olympians Cathy Freeman, Stephanie Rice and Ian Thorpe, and professional boxer and world champion water skier Lauryn Eagle are just a few of the big names who signed up for a guest role on THE RECRUIT.

The series also features current and former AFL greats including Brendan Fevola, Anthony Koutoufides, Dustin Fletcher, Jason Akermanis, Corey Enright, Brent Harvey, Barry Hall, Jonathan Brown, Paul Licuria, Dermott Brereton and renowned coach Kevin Sheedy.

And returning for a special guest appearance is season one Head Coach Michael Voss and Host Ryan “Fitzy” Fitzgerald.

THE RECRUIT is a 10-part series that follows a group of “Recruits” who live and play together as a team, while at the same time competing against each other for a life-changing prize – a guaranteed place on an AFL list.

Leading the Recruits as Head Coach each week is former AFL player and record-breaking coach Mick Malthouse. He is joined by former Hawthorn champion and FOX FOOTY commentator Ben Dixon as Assistant Coach, Port Adelaide’s world class fitness guru Darren Burgess as High Performance Coach; and accomplished sports administrator Leigh Russell as Mind Coach.

Together, these sporting heavyweights, along with the impressive line-up of guest stars, put the Recruits through their paces, both physically and mentally, in order to help them reach their full potential and become AFL ready.

The series will culminate in a live finale in which a special NAB AFL Draft will be held, with the winner signing a contract with one AFL club.

THE RECRUIT is produced by McGuire Media exclusively for Foxtel, and will premiere on FOX8 on Wednesday, July 20 at 8.30pm. Encore screenings can be seen on FOX FOOTY on Sundays at 9.00pm and Wednesdays at 6.00pm.
